Title: Senior Business Analyst - E-commerce Platform
Location: Remote, India
Shift Timing: UK/Overlap (Approx. 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM IST)
Work Schedule: 5 Days Working
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to play a critical role in defining and delivering solutions within our complex, globally distributed e-commerce ecosystem. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and our intricate technology landscape, which includes platforms like Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC), Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Commercetools (PIM), IBM Sterling OMS, custom microservices, and numerous third-party integrations. Working within our structured project lifecycle, you will elicit, analyze, document, and manage requirements for enhancements and new features, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical feasibility across our regional platform variations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead requirements discovery and elicitation through workshops, interviews, and analysis of existing systems and documentation.
- Analyze complex business problems within the e-commerce domain (covering areas like PIM, OMS, CMS, Payments, Frontend UX, Integrations, etc.) and translate them into clear, detailed, and unambiguous requirements artifacts.
- Produce comprehensive requirements documentation tailored to our project methodology, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), Use Cases, Process Flows (e.g., BPMN), and detailed User Stories with Acceptance Criteria.
- Develop a deep understanding of the end-to-end data flows and interactions between various platform components (React SPA, AEM, SFCC, Commercetools, OMS, APIs, middleware, etc.).
- Collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Development Leads, QA Engineers, DevOps, and Business Stakeholders across globally distributed teams.
- Analyze and document the impact of proposed changes across the architecture, paying close attention to regional differences (US, EU, JP) and dependencies between systems.
- Act as a key liaison between business and technical teams, clarifying requirements and resolving ambiguities throughout the implementation phase.
- Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) planning, scenario definition, and execution, helping to ensure solutions meet the defined business requirements.
- Participate in backlog grooming, estimation support, and potentially sprint planning/reviews within the implementation lifecycle.
- Manage requirements traceability, maintain documentation hygiene, and handle scope change requests according to defined processes.
- Identify opportunities for improving BA processes and documentation standards within the team.
- Mentor and guide junior Business Analysts.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-8+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst, with a significant focus (4+ years) specifically within the E-commerce domain.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering requirements for complex, multi-system software integration projects.
- Strong functional understanding of core e-commerce processes and concepts (e.g., Product Information Management, Order Management Lifecycles, Content Management, Cart & Checkout flows, Payments, Promotions, Personalization, Inventory Management).
- Demonstrated expertise in requirements elicitation techniques and creating high-quality formal documentation (BRDs, FSDs, Use Cases, Process Maps) alongside Agile artifacts (User Stories, Acceptance Criteria).
- Experience working within structured project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Phase-Gated, Water-Scrum-Fall).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, with experience working in large, potentially matrixed team environments.
- Proficiency with requirements management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio or similar).
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Direct hands-on analysis experience with key platforms in our stack: Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC/Demandware), Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Commercetools, IBM Sterling OMS.
- Experience analyzing requirements involving APIs, microservices, and middleware integrations (e.g., WebMethods, Pub/Sub).
- Understanding of data modeling concepts and complex data synchronization processes.
- Experience working on projects with regional platform variations and considerations for global rollouts.
- Familiarity with web analytics (e.g., Google Analytics), A/B testing concepts, and SEO principles in an e-commerce context.
- Experience working with geographically distributed development teams.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA).
