Destm joins the AI Revolution: Powering Business Innovation at Global AI Summit Dubai 2024
Destm exhibited at the Global AI Summit in Dubai on 16-17 April 2024. We were at Booth AS11, sharing how we build AI into e-commerce and business operations. Our interest was less in what AI can theoretically do and more in what teams are actually shipping with it.
Destm started as an e-commerce engineering firm. That work pushed us into predictive analytics, using order history, browsing behavior, and inventory data to forecast demand and personalize the shopping experience.
One early project shaped how we think about this work. A retail client's product pages were quietly losing sales to pages that were broken or slow to load. We built a predictive model that analyzed page views and buying patterns to flag which pages were costing the most conversions.
That project set the pattern we still follow: solve one measurable operational problem first, then generalize the model. Our work since has grown into three areas, each built on the same kind of data.
Customer behavior prediction models what a shopper is likely to want next, based on browsing and cart activity rather than guesswork. The output is a more relevant page and fewer dead-end searches, not a generic "you might also like" list.
Operational forecasting applies the same modeling approach to the business side: sales history, inventory levels, and signals like seasonality feed into demand projections a buying team can act on before a stockout happens, not after.
Recommendation engines are the customer-facing extension of that same forecasting work, built from a shopper's real-time behavior and purchase history rather than only what other customers happened to buy.
At the summit, we planned to:
- Share our approach to predictive analytics for e-commerce personalization and demand forecasting.
- Discuss how AI is changing inventory management and supply chain planning.
- Talk with other teams building AI in production, not just in demos.
Our take: AI earns its place in a business by solving one specific, measurable problem, not by being bolted on as a feature. That's the standard we held our own work to at the Global AI Summit, and the one we still hold it to.
